How do you know if the oil level indicated by your dip-stick is sufficient? Dip-sticks usually have some kind of marks in them for oil level. If the top of your oil streak is between these two marks or within a cross-hatched area, the level should be good.
If replacing your oil yourself after learning how to check your car’s oil level, make sure to get the grade recommended in your vehicle’s owner’s manual and add a little at a time, repeating the above procedure to check engine oil level.
